Trekking and hiking the Tembesi crater rim (2,850 m), the highest crater rim in Rinjani National Park and closer to the New Volcano Gunung Baru Jari, is an exciting adventure.
This expedition includes hiking Rinjani from Timbanuh, 750 meters above sea level, to the edge of the Tembesi crater at 2,850 meters; camping very close to Gunung Baru Jari and Lake Segara Anak; watching the sunset from your tent; and then returning to Timbanuh and Tetebatu.
Itinerary Tembesi Trekking:
Arrival day:
From Lombok airport or another location in Lombok to Tetebatu (2–3 hours by car).
We will pick you up on Lombok Island, drop you off in Tetebatu, check you in at the hotel, and, if you have time, guide you to visit the Tetebatu rise field, waterfall, and monkey forest. Return to the hotel to meet your guide, and we will give you a detailed overview of our trip.
Day 1: Tetebatu-Timbanuh-Plawangan Tembesi
We will transfer you to Timbanuh’s National Park Office at 7.30 a.m., following breakfast at your accommodation. The journey begins in the forest, where you must plant trees before moving across the cross-footpath and river to reach Post 1.
In the jungle, we may find a variety of wood, moss, and forest vegetables that are suitable for natural cooking.
After three hours of trekking, we arrived at Post 2, where we spent an hour eating lunch.
After that, travel for two hours to Post 3 (Cemara Nunggal) and camp there. We stopped for 45 minutes, ate snacks and fruit, and enjoyed the savanna on Mount Rinjani.
After you’ve rested, our guide will accompany you for 45 minutes through the savanna to Pelawangan Tembesi, 2.850 m. During this time, you can enjoy the sunset and views of Segara Anak Lake, the new volcano, Mount Agung in Bali and the Sumbawa Islands. After that, you’ll head back to the campsite for dinner and a night in a tent.
Day 2: Plawangan Tembesi-Timbanuh Village-Transfer
After having breakfast and enjoying the beautiful panorama, we return to Post 2 for 1.5 hours before continuing to Post 1 for breaks and lunch.
After lunch, we drive down to Timbanuh, where our car will drop us off at our hotel in Tetebatu.
After you have finished showering and changing your clothes, we will drive you to your next destination on the island of Lombok.
Tembesi Trekking Price Include:
- Licensed, experienced mountain guide and local porters.
- One-night hotel accommodation in Tetebatu before the trek.
- Comprehensive camping gear including tents, sleeping bags, mattresses, pillows, cooking equipment, and a toilet tent.
- Three meals a day with a hot drink, 1 large bottles of mineral water + unlimited boiled water, soft drinks, and fresh fruit.
- Entrance fee to Gunung Rinjani National Park: 400,000 IDR per person.
- Transportation covers pick-up from Kuta Lombok, the airport, Mataram, Senggigi, and Bangsal to Tetebatu and Timbanuh, including the return journey.
